Victoria Bans Unnecessary Intersex Surgeries for Minors

Victoria has become the first Australian state to ban unnecessary surgeries on intersex children. Intersex children are born with characteristics that are neither typically male, nor female and are sometimes operated on shortly after birth. Banning these unnecessary surgeries will help prevent lifelong consequences, including infertility. Read more.
